Tips on Growing Strong Hair
Daily overuse of heat styling products, sunshine and chlorine can significantly damage hair. However, with relatively little effort, strong, luxurious locks are completely possible. Just follow a few guidelines to get a resilient mane that withstands the rigors of daily curling irons, straighteners and Mother Nature.
Get Regular Trims
Getting regular trims every six to eight weeks is essential to growing strong hair. Hair with split ends will continue to split, and destruction of the hair is irreversible. So, haircuts are necessary to remove any breakage immediately before further damage occurs. If you are growing your hair out, only cut off 1/2 inch at a time. If you are not, you can get your hair cut up to an inch every two months to maintain the length.
Proper Diet
Although you may think your diet only affects your body, it also affects your hair. Maintain a diet of fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. Take a multivitamin daily. Also, get an adequate supply of biotin in your food as well. Biotin is essential for healthy, strong hair. Foods rich in biotin include beans, carrots, nuts, eggs, vegetables, raspberries and strawberries.
Take Caution with Wet Hair
When your hair is wet, it is most vulnerable to breakage. So take extra precautions such as using a wide-tooth comb and lightweight leave-in conditioners. When drying your hair with a towel, blot it dry and squeeze it, do not rub. Also, allow your hair to air dry as often as possible. If you need to use a hair dryer, set it on a low level until hair your hair is almost dry, then you can turn up the heat.
